Re-inventing school from A to Z33
To mark Milan’s 2013 Salone del Mobile, Z33 and the international design magazine Abitare invited designers and critics, teachers and students, theoreticians and practitioners to debate the evolution of the educational system.
‘Re-Inventing School from A to Z33’ provided a platform on which to debate educational developments in today’s schools rather than the physical features of school buildings.
Should schools be the appointed places in which to develop new politically- and socially-led teaching methods? Should teaching focus on design or the designer? Should learning be methodologically or individually based? Which counts most – form or content, product or process, today or tomorrow?
We have invited designers and critics, teachers and students, theoreticians and practising to join us in the debate, teaming up in pairs to exchange views on topical issues at Z33’s outpost in Ventura Lambrate. The aim was to construct an atlas which everyone can use and enlarge to everyone else’s benefit, adding to our understanding of changes in educational thinking in and outside schools.
We have invited: Gijs Bakker, Andrea Branzi, Barbara Brondi e Marco Rainò, El Ultimo Grito, Eugenie de Lariviere, Marcus Fairs, Beatrice Galilee, Alexis Georgacopoulos, Roberto Gigliotti, Alessandro Guerriero, Martí Guixé, Kuehn/Malvezzi, Andrea Lissoni, Stefano Maffei, Alexandra Midal, Stefano Mirti, Tobias Revell, Gianluigi Ricuperati, Italo Rota, Jon Stam, Marco Scotini, Thomas Widdershoven and many others.
The debates are be published at www.reinventingschool.net.
